About Practical Science

Practical Science is a free resource for secondary school science students and teachers. The site provides step-by-step laboratory practicals, revision guides, and study skills resources for IB Diploma, Edexcel IGCSE, and GCSE Science.

Every practical write-up includes clear objectives, full equipment lists, detailed procedures, and guidance on data analysis — designed so students can follow along in the lab or use them for revision at home.

About the Author

My name is Marc Curran, and I am a secondary school science teacher with nearly 20 years of experience teaching IB Diploma Chemistry, IB Diploma Biology, Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry, and Edexcel IGCSE Biology. I also teach IB Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and coordinate pastoral and expedition programmes.

I created Practical Science to share the resources I have developed over my career — practical investigations, online textbook content, and study skills guides — with students and teachers worldwide.

In addition to this website, I create and sell downloadable teaching resource packs on the TES Marketplace. These include complete lesson PowerPoints, worksheets, homework sheets, and mark schemes for IGCSE and IB Chemistry and Biology.
